Just like in your own house, you need to consider what supplies you might need if the weather, or fate, decides to deflate your bubble (or your tyres). Not having these car essentials in your car is as god as selling your car to a scrap yard. We asked around and here are the top 10 things we recommend keeping with you in your car at all times…
- A spare tyre
Yeah, the one around your waist from all those Spur ‘all you can eat’ rib nights isn’t quite going to cut it.
You need to make sure that you have a properly sized spare tyre, a jack and a spanner in your car at all times. Even if you have a boyfriend or flatmate who usually does that kind of thing for you, knowing how to change a tyre is a valuable life skill. - Jumper cables
Again, this is one of those basic emergency manoeuvres that you really need to know if you’re going to be out driving around. Just be careful and make sure you don’t cross the cables…. You’ll get a nasty shock.
- A first aid kit
A small enough first aid kit should include any bandages, gauze, and disinfectant that you might need in an emergency. If you’re planning a long trip, you should also consider supplementing it with painkillers, diarrhoea medicine, anti-nausea medicine and anything else you could imagine needing.
- A flashlight
