Over here in the kingdom of King Price, we like to try to give you as many options as we can. We’re not just talking about ‘chicken or beef’ choice, we’re talking real choice that makes a real difference to your pocket, and to your life.
As you probably already know, your basic car excess is the amount of money payable by you when making a claim. This amount is tailored to you based on a number of different factors, and will be agreed on when you finalise your contract with us.
Your basic car excess can be anything from just R1 500, all the way up to R17 000…. It’s your choice, and it’s our pleasure.
Remember, the higher your excess, the lower your monthly insurance premiums will be…. BUT, that said, we also recommend picking an excess that you know that you can afford in case something does happen to your car. It doesn’t help to save on your premiums and then be unable to pay your excess when you have to claim!
There are other basic excesses that apply just to your radio (if your radio has been specified and you pay a separate premium for it) and windscreen, which are lower than your basic car excess, and excesses also apply to home contents and buildings insurance.
There are other, additional excesses that could also apply under special circumstances, for example: if you have an accident across the border and cannot drive the car back, or if the driver at the time of the accident is NOT listed as the regular driver, and is under 25 years old. These additional excesses are also a flat rate. See which basic and additional excesses apply by checking your insurance schedule, or checking here on our website.
Do you feel like your excess might be a little excessive?
Leave your details at the top of the page, and we’ll call you back to start saving you money on your insurance with super cheap premiums that decrease monthly….And we’ll help you pick an excess that won’t break the bank.
If you are already part of the King Price family (high five), and would like to adjust your excess or your premiums, just drop us an email at [email protected] and we’ll get in touch to see how we can get the balance right between your monthly premiums and your basic excess.
